Question: Are there sources of locally-grown asparagus and rhubarb?

Mahoning Valley Farmer Answer:
The answer to this is similar to those folks who were looking for butter beans for sale in the area and the answer is worth repeating.

Many Mahoning Valley farms grow and sell asparagus and rhubarb, and these are listed in the Mahoning Valley Agri Online Guide, which can help you find specific local producers. The Mahoning Farm Bureau The Farmers Market web site also lists many of the same local markets, sorted by product sold.

Haus Cider Mill is an example of a local source of asparagus and rhubarb. In the spring they held a hands-on cooking demonstration of asparagus receipes.

One of the local sources currently not in the Guide is David Kenrich in Greenford, Ohio, who will pick rhubarb as you order it. Contact him at 330-533-4016.

Ohio Proud lists Brungard Farm Market, 4653 Middletown Road, New Middletown, OH 44442 as another local source not in our Guide that carries rhubarb. This web site also lists local sources throughout Ohio for a variety of agricultural products.
